Wednesday 14th October - walk **** – Nacton Shores to Levington Creek –
sunny and warm.
After two pretty full-on days of windsurf foiling it was nice to have a
more relaxing day, giving the early morning prom walk with Mag a miss! Then
a late breakfast in the garden followed by exercises in the warm Autumn
sunshine with a lovely blue sky. Packing a picnic lunch we drove aver to
Nacton Shores, parking in the top car park we walked down to the River
Orwell through the trees, the tide was high with a good onshore breeze from
the SW, maybe enough to foil? There was several yachts were out enjoying
the good conditions as we sat on a bench with great river views in front of
Broke Hall to enjoy our yummy lunch! Well rested we then went on our walk
down river towards Levington, we started along the narrow strip of beach
but had to retrace our steps as the tide was too high and take the high
path which undulates up and down through the trees with top views down to
the river! We reached the end of the trees where we usually turn but
continued onto Levington Creek, with top views of the marina. Then when we
turned we spotted the Levington deer resting in the sun in the large field
down from the church. Something then spooked them and they actually ran
towards the footpath but as we approached they headed off again! We then
heard Buzzards calling and spotted three, probably a family group circling
above us! Then back to the van and home for a welcome cuppa after a top 3
mile walk!
